K. So I went to ZCON. Just thought I'd put my post up with thanks and props and junk and stuff. I'll just jump into the events that were important to me. TTnet dinner. I didn't get to stay very long, but I had a great time. The food was great, the venue was incredible, the CF belt buckle...ohmy. :) I was equally impressed by the amount of organization of the event. Each year, the twinturbo.net staff become better and better hosts. The shot glasses were a brilliant idea. I was impressed by the guest list... which included many Japanese guests and...

Next up, and the deciding factor for me, was Watkins Glen. This is a world reknowned race track and North Americas first racing facility.
I have been EXTREMELY fortunate to be associated with TwinTurbo.net for a couple years. During that time, I'ved been able to meet some great people (and their companies). One such vendor was MWSmotorsports. Mike called me asking my advice and what my needs were for a brake kit that fits under stock wheels. Without any thought, i gave Mike my opinions and left it at that. A few months later, he calls me to tell me he wants me to check out his brake kit. Check it...
[ www.mwsmotorsports.com ] Ok... so a quick post on the brake kit. It's big. It fits under any combination of stock wheels (fronts or rears). Infact, no other brake kit works with stock front or rear tires that uses a stock caliper. The only next logical upgrade would be going to Russell S's Wilwood Kit. On the track... first session... pure crap. I never got a chance to bed in the Hawk Blue race pads. So all they did was gas out and catch on fire (the pads) during braking. Second session... Pads are bedded in obviously. My brake ducts on the passanger side kind of failed, but the brakes are holding up nicely... need more track time... I had come of early for health reasons (long unrelated story). third session... Pads are great, brakes are INCREDIBLE. The car was far more predictable. Braking was super solid and my braking point kept getting deeper and deeper. I was attaining speeds of 120+ on the front and back straights which is equal to or greater then any other track I've driven. Braking confidence was very much significant by the end of the day. in summary, the MWS brake kit fills the wheels nicely, install easily, and are a great value... whether you track your car or not. For the money, you absolutely cannot go wrong. I need to make mention of Mark Leader (sipriz) and his gearset ([ www.leadergears.com ]). these things really helped pull the car and accelerate it out of turns. I found myself noticing I was getting greater speeds after track out then I was used to. The car felt solid and controllable under WOT. Even when traction was compromised, I feel the gears really helped me during throttle steer. It may be the slightly higher RPMs. All I know is, I'm really impressed with this upgrade as well.
Thanks to these fellas who helped make it happen for me.

it was great to meet PAT300zx and see his pride and joy... enviable at the least.
I saw Bonnie and crew when they caught up with me on the way home. (As many know, I drive slow and in the right lane 99% of the time). What caught me off guard is when she asked me to cut in. I was like, sure, no problem. Then she let like 30 other Z cars in infront of her... (ok, 6 or 7). Whatever. I stayed with her group for about 2 or 3 hours. I forget. For the most part it was enjoyable and they were cognicent of lane usage. Rare for caravans.
I caught some NASTY storms on the way home. If you have problems keeping your car under control in the rain at 60mph plus, you should really consider getting an alignment. Since setting my car up for -.05 degrees of camber all around, the Z is completely and totally controllable in the worst down pour. Give it a try. You'll thank me, and so will your tire wear.

Important thanks to my "sponsors" for their support, financial considerations, free parts in some cases, tc.... Maglito for his support. Kyle of SGP fame for the complete suspension. COZ for the shocks. Courtesy Nissan for the Hawk Blue pads. [ www.MWSMotorsports.com ] for the brakes. [ www.300Degree.com ] for the nprobe and future products (wink wink)... Mark leader of [ www.leadergears.com ] for the awesome gears.
And I can't thank enough those that kept an eye on me during my trip, especially HaloZ and ChinaClipper. I want to thank all those old friends who know me for who I really am versus an internet persona, and new friends who have figured it out. Thanks again!
